I don't quite agree with Adam Smith, the text suggests this is a German School (Studienkollege für Ausländische Studenten), and the German education system doesn't use bétavakken and alfavakken.

: Helaas, dit klopt niet. Zie de Glossary van http://www.nuffic.nl of http://taalunieversum.org/onderwijs/termen/term/484/. Je links verwijzen naar 'bijvak' resp. 'hoofdvak', niet naar 'bètavak'. 100% Confidence is dus een tikkie te veel van het goede. ;-)

: Sorry, but this is absolutely incorrect. 'Betavakken' are subjects like mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology etc. Another term in Dutch for these and similar subjects is 'exacte vakken'.
