Šifrování. Jedna z činností, stará jako samotné kulturní dějiny lidstva, byla vždy obestřena jakousi rouškou tajemství. Zašifrované zprávy rozhodovaly o dějinách celých států či kontinentů a svůj význam si šifrování zachovává dodnes.

Šifrování je proces transformace informací pomocí algoritmu s šifrovacím klíčem s cílem znemožnit číst prostý text nepovolaným osobám. Číst ho mohou jen osoby s vhodným klíčem k dešifrování.
