Prior to lapping the disc of the globe valves, the disc may require machine refinishing. When defects are found on the stem/disc assembly-seating surface, it is recommended to place the stem/disc assembly into a lathe spindle and check the disc diameter, without taking the assembly apart. Hold the disc using a 3-jaw chuck so that large OD and seating surface run true.
