English term

microoxen

English to Dutch Medical Biology (-tech,-chem,micro-) Biotechnology
"The researchers attached a cargo of polystyrene beads to the backs of green algae cells and used light to guide them up and down the chambers.…The team have coined the term “microoxen” for the load-bearing microbes." This is a newly coined term, in Germen e.g. the term "Mikro-Ochsen" was coined, in French we will propose "micro-sherpas" (as found on this forum!) and/or microporteurs. Is there already a Dutch equivalent? Any ideas?

micro-ezels

de os als lastdier spreekt in het NL toch niet zo tot de verbeelding, al heeft dit misschien een wat negatieve bijklank...

Hallo Walther, your Feedback doesn't seem to appear on this page anymore...? For a more neutral term you could use micro-lastdrager (a bit longer, but distinguishes from a carrier of e.g. diseases)
Peer comment(s):

agree Jooske : en micropaarden worden al in een andere omgeving gebruikt (ruitersport), microossen zonder - is onherkenbaar en lijkt op iets anders. microezels ook ;-)

agree Jooske : Yeah, even though i do agree with the micro-ezel, i would have liked the discussion for more suggestions. Was thinking about micro-drager, micro-kruier
