German to English Marketing Aerospace / Aviation / Space Annual report
This is from the "Press and Public Relations" section of the annual report from a large German high-tech research organisation.

And that counts as a clever solution to me ... ... as a former high-tech type!

I like that, nice one. Still not sure how the AGM fits into it, but for what it's worth, here's my solution (better ideas notwithstanding!):

The culminating event of the annual meeting calendar used the excellent research results as a vehicle to put the XXX brand in the spotlight.

So, both ideas in there! Would either or both of you care to suggest your answers so that I can agonise over who to give points to?
Ken Cox Nov 20, 2008:
FWIW This sounds like someone trying to be creative with the idea of 'getting the message across' -- in this case the literal meaning is (IMO) that the research results served as a vehicle for communicating the brand (message) (transportieren = übertragen; perhaps eingedeutscht from the transport layer of the OSI model). Probably counts as incredibly clever among high-tech types ;-)

Sounds good I'm afraid I'm still struggling to tie this into "Der alljährliche Veranstaltungs- Höhepunkt ..." unfortunately, but I like "put into the spotlight"
Jonathan MacKerron Nov 20, 2008:
perhaps the excellent research results put the brand in the spotlight / highlighted the brand?
Languageman (asker) Nov 20, 2008:
Thanks for the input Thanks for the input. Could be, how would you work that in? I currently have "taken the brand beyond excellent research results", but I'm not sure how an AGM would achieve such a feat, so I think I'm missing something.
