German term
Alu-Optik
German to English
Tech/Engineering
Furniture / Household Appliances
Bed Part
"Holzfuß in Alu-Optik mit rundem Querschnitt für unverstellbares Unterbett. Höhe: 15 cm"
This is describing the leg or foot of a bed - one of the types of leg or foot available. I can't make head or tail of "Alu-Optik" (my best guesses get very unconvincing hits), and it seems rather illogical to associate wood and aluminium (it's either wooden or metal, but can't be both). TIA for your help.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer.
Comment: "Sorry for taking so long to grade this. Cilian's "disagree" threw all sorts of doubts and uncertainties into my mind. In fact, I think I may have used "aluminium effect" in the job. But I don't just grade on the answer I went with at the time, but on what I think is the best overall solution and the best solution to enter in the glossary. "Aluminium finish" does get the most support and was quite well-referenced, so this is the answer I'll give 4 points to and the term I'll enter in the glossary. Thanks to everyone who contributed - appreciate your help."

looking like aluminium
This is what it means but I assume that there is a more elegant expression for this.

: Had you not abbreviated the "aluminium", I might have agreed...but I prefer finish anyway - it's largely a matter of personal taste, I think.

: agree with "effect" (o. "appearance", "-like" o. sth. with "imitation") . Disagree with CL5 and "I am sure"!
