the German "segnen 'sie'..." bezieht sich m. E. auf die grünen Schergen und macht deshalb so auch Sinn.

: Yes, they won't last very long, the poor things. The German should be "segnet sie ziemlich schnell das Zeitliche" (not "segnen"), by the way.
