German term

Casino

German to English Other Human Resources Executive lounge
This is not a Spielbank, but rather an area for company executives in a factory. I always associated this with an executive dining room, but the image I have shows couches, coffee tables, etc. Unfortunately this is a rush.
Thanks, Kevin

Hi Alison Indeed, a false friend. It originates from the "Offizierskasino"
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Offizierskasino

Although the translation you give is correct, and would be ideal for a staff/workers canteen or a company cafeteria in the UK or US, it would almost certainly not be used in the form of "(executive) canteen"or "(executive) cafeteria", as these two "eateries" are generally considered to be for the "lower ranks" in companies.

It is general practice to give the executive dining areas a "posh" name - like restaurant or lounge.

Just found a glossary of false friends from "Englisch für die Personalarbeit".

False Friends: Typische Vokabelfehler vermeiden
Diese Übersicht enthält eine “Denglish-Liste”, in der typische Vokabelfehler zusammengestellt sind.

It offers:
Der deutsche Begriff - Kasino
Die falsche englische Übersetzung - casino = Spielbank, -salon
Die korrekte englische Übersetzung - canteen, cafeteria

executive suite/executive restaurant/executive lounge

Unless they give it a special name, I would describe it as above.

Meetings in the executive lounge, business dinners/lunches in the executive restaurant, corporate events - receptions, award ceremonies and other events - in the executive suite.

Merci Beatrice.
agree Woodstock (X) : A little late, but yes. I once worked at an investment bank on Wall Street, and there was an executive lounge and dining room. This was in the 80s

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "I'm going with "executive lounge" as the scene depicted couches, coffee tables, etc. rather than a dining area Thanks to all!"
