I am having problems with the general concept. For example, Ueberpruefe stichprobenartig Leistungsfaelle, ob diese zutreffend im Leistungsbuch erfasst wurden. Also, sind Leistungen und Gegenleistungen in die Berechnung richtig eingeflossen. I wondered whether 'Leistung' meant "benefit". If you think that Leistung has a different meaning in each different sense, please just state one meaning.

In an insurance context, "Leistung" usually means "benefit" or "claim". "Leistungsfall" is also usually translated as "claim". It's basically the money the insurance company is contractually obliged to pay out in return for all the premium payments when the event insured against actually occurs.
