Discussion

Shane London (asker) Feb 23, 2011:
The very next line says 'Einlagenbau' so I presume it is different from 'Bodenbau'.
Wolfgang Black (X) Feb 23, 2011:
I assume it's about the custom-fitting of inner soles to patients' specific requirements. In British English inner soles can also be called inlays. In American English they can be called inserts or insoles.
Shane London (asker) Feb 23, 2011:
'sole contruction' seems likely I suppose. It would be nice to be sure.
Trudy Peters Feb 23, 2011:
Footbed? I know that term from my skiing days. When I had to rent boots, I had to get boots w/o a footbed.
Wolfgang Black (X) Feb 23, 2011:
How about 'sole construction'?

making/construction of shoe soles

My first thought was a 'shoe bottom', but then I told myself that a 'shoe bottom' is simply called a sole.
Peer comment(s):

agree Wolfgang Black (X) : a shoe has an inner sole and an outer sole. If it's not the inner sole it must be the outer sole.

'Sole' would cover both insole and outsole.
disagree Penny Hewson (X) : In shoemaking and repairing the sole does not include the heel part
