試験片の作り方
(for airbag testing, referring to test pieces made of cloth)

試験片は試料の幅の両端からそれぞれ少なくとも５０ｍｍずつを除いた部分から採取する。また試料の長さ方向の両端からそれぞれ少なくとも５０ｍｍずつを除いた部分から採取する。**縦方向の試験の場合は長さ方向に平行に、横方向の試験の場合は幅方向に平行とする。**但し、同一試験項目で、２もしくはそれ以上の工数の試験片を必要とする場合、引張試験においてたて（横）方向の試験に供する試験片は縦（横）に並ばないように、また引裂試験において縦（横）方向の試験に供する試験片は縦（横）方向に並ばない様に最終するものとする。

In this sentence, are they saying to cut pieces parallel to the length direction if the test is vertical? Or are they saying for example, to pull the cloth in the length direction for a vertical test (if it is a tensile test)?
