timber grading/log sorting
A little hard to tell from your context, but they talk about 'grading' when it comes to lumber and 'sawn timber'.
This generally refers to the what comes out.
(Sidobräder = 'Sågat virke som tas ut ur stockens yttre del, utanför centrumutbytet, kallas också sidoutbyte. Sidobräder har en virkestjocklek mindre än 32 mm. Se sidan Från timmer till planka och Virke till snickeriindustrin.' from the Eng reference below).
But the only definition of your table I found (in the Swe reference) indicates this involves sorting the logs going into the mill. Theses logs are both sorted and graded. (At an onsite visit, I was shown logs in 54 separate classes in piles sorted by length, bottom and top diameter, and
a few 'reject' classes (going to paper or burning)
Roughly, sorting logs by quality is grading, sorting by log size is 'sorting', but ...very roughly, it seems... (more fun reading http://epubl.ltu.se/1402-1757/2007/02/LTU-LIC-0702-SE.pdf)

I am assuming that they are talking about selecting the blade set-up based on the timber grading table...
