Phrase book:
"Någon har blivit akut sjuk".
My brain cannot currently think of a succinct way of saying this in English conveying both suddenness and emergency. Can yours?

Peer comment(s):

neutral USER0059 (X) : I would say one can be acutely ill without being critically ill. As an example, appendicitis is almost always an acute disease, but seldom critical. One could also be critically but not acutely ill, for example in the terminal stage of a chronic disease.

True, but I felt that the word acute didn't really translate into "akut", acute for me is a word less"emergency" than akut, and more "precision" or "defined".
