I’m a Proz member since 2007 and my Kudoz activity has been growing since and so have the points. I’m always glad to help if it’s an area I know something about and I happen to be available…

I put one year because I think I have a couple of points?
The translators with the highest amounts of kudoz in my language pair have so many it would take me years of answering questions full time to get on the first page of client searches, so I don't bother. I remember I answered a question for Sheila because it just happened to be in one of my areas of expertise, when I was looking out of curiosity.

More than a decade Jan 16

I've contributed to KudoZ since 2010, but it's gone very quiet these days in my pairs and I rarely post answers.

As a non-paying member I was never bothered about amassing points as such. I think average points per answer is a more useful metric.

Either way, I see it as a bit of fun and/or an intellectual exercise, not a way of getting work. Being on the first page of the directory has not brought me a deluge of job offers.

A few years ago I set myself the challenge of getting an entire screen of 4 pointers, which would obviously be impossible in the more argumentative pairs, but I came pretty close in mine.

Another bug? I did answer before Kay Denney, but in the meanwhile my answer has vanished... Will it reappear again?

P.S. It did!

How many is enough? Jan 16

I've been answering for a couple of years, to interesting questions only (and those which didn't have an adequate answer by the time I first saw them), but I really don't know how many KudoZ points you're supposed to have to become a weighty character in the eyes of a potential customer. I'm sure my modest count of 359 is not enough, and my KudoZ feed has become so arid that I can hardly find new interesting questions to answer

This basically... Jan 16

This basically asks how long you've been a member of ProZ.com (and how long you've been participating in KudoZ). I answered (and received points) first on 26 May 2000, and I answered (and received points) last on 8 December 2021.

My language combination doesn't have a lot of activity on KudoZ. I have 171 points in one direction and 50 in the other direction, and in both cases this puts me at the very top of the directory results.

I don't actually recall when I joined proz, but it was at least a decade ago (if not two!). I'm a keen quizzer and approach the Kudoz section as if it were a quiz type game. Somehow I've managed to accumulate almost 10K points over the years, FWIW, although I doubt any prospective clients would be interested in that.

But I never was a kudoz fighter and did not have much time.

More than 1o years. Jan 16

I started answering Kudoz around 2005-2006, so I'm reachind the 2nd decade on it. Yet, I have not answered too many questions in the recent months. Perhaps it was in the period 2007-2015 when I used to answer more Kudoz.

I have long suspected that it's your life goal to always be first to answer these polls. Either that or it's you who actually posts them so you know they're there before we do.
Sorry, off topic but I wanted to share my little morning laugh.

Proz people: this is very disheartening for anyone wanting to improve their listing. The people at the top may no longer even participate, but since everyone is discouraged from attempting to catch up, the situation never changes.

Seeing that a lot of people are citing long periods of time here, I suspect that it's the case in most busy language pairs.
It's been suggested before: your Kudoz number should only reflect recent activity, client searches should list members who've won the most points in the past few months only. Then newcomers might feel they have a chance of getting to the top of the list.

From 2008 to 2016, and then from Oct 2022.
BUT to me the number of KudoZ points is less relevant than the answers:accepted answers ratio. Mine is around 52% on average, with up to 58% in two combinations.
It has been discussed before (it's been quite a while), but using this ratio would be fairer in my opinion.
