I was born and raised in Argentina. But my family is Italian and I was educated in a British School. But then I moved to Barcelona, so I spoke Catalan all the time. And then I moved to France and I spoke French. And then again to the UK. And now Germany.

So yes, obviously I should be a spy. But I never was really good drinking shaken (not stirred) martinis, so a translator I am.

I studied Translation and Interpreting in the Autonomous University of Barcelona from 2006 to 2010, where I specialized in translating and interpreting from Catalan, English and French to Spanish. There I had the chance to study under the tutelage of many of the most renowned translations academics in Europe, such as Juan Gabriel López Guix, Pilar García Crescente, Olivia Fox or Berni Armstrong. Also I worked as a research assistant of PACTE, a research project led by Amparo Hurtado, one of the most influential academics in Translation Theory nowadays.

In 2008, I went on Erasmus to study (yes, study) in Rennes, France. The Université d’Haute Bretagne is one of the leading schools of Translation in France, but it’s also one of the most important institutions in France for History and Social sciences, so I decided to attend to courses not exclusively related to translation. I had the chance to study sociology and cultural studies, allowing me to broaden my perspective of cultural impact on translations. I also studied Portuguese, and Documentation and Project Management with Monsieur Daniel Goaudec, one of the most important scholars in the subject.

After finishing my bachelor’s degree in Barcelona, I moved to London where I studied an European MA on Bilingual Translation in the University of Westminster. There I specialized in Technical and Institutional studies from Spanish to English and vice versa. But I also studied European Union Procedures and Perspectives and Cross-Cultural Communication. These two modules allowed me to understand deeply the way today Europe works, and mainly the European polices that apply for businesses and institutions and how to make them appealing to a new culture. I stopped translating and I started localising and creating unique content that would allow my clients to make their product local and authentic for their new markets. For my final project I translated PRIME from English to Spanish, one of the most important researches ever done about student mobility in Europe. This translation was commissioned by ESN, the International Erasmus Student Network.

Also, only after 6 months I started my studies in London, I began working as the Southern Europe Manager for Flexwork Ltd, the most important retailer of second hand golf clubs, fishing tackle and photographic equipment in Europe. This experience allowed me to put into practice the knowledge I previously had of translation, localization and cultural adaptation. After three years, the results spoke for themselves: Golfbidder (Flexwork division for golf clubs) became the most important and most visited golf retailer website in France and Spain, being recognized by the French Golf Federation and the most active forums in these countries (Golf Technic in France and Galaxia Golf in Spain). I also helped the company to launch the French localized versions of their websites of fishing tackle and photography equipment.

I stopped working for Flexwork in the beginning of 2014 to be a full-time freelance translator and I moved to Berlin.

But not everything is translation in my life. I also spend some time making and producing music in some studios here in Berlin and I am an amateur photographer.
