Yes, I have unfortunately experienced this (only saw this entry today, two days late for me ).

Yes, I have unfortunately experienced this (only saw this entry today, two days late for me ).

In my case, it happens with Parallels Desktop. It starts with a spinning wheel, the whole system freezes (not only the Windows part, but the whole iMac), then the screen goes black and finally there is a Kernel panic causing the iMac to reboot. Sometimes it shows the entry screen in between and if you are fast enough (before it hangs and goes black again), you can shut the system down before the panic... It took me a while to find out what happened and it is very annoying. Once I found out, my first action was to avoid this happening also on my MacBook, disabling the automatic update.

One thing I found out is, that in my case, it only happens when I use Studio 2015 on Parallels. All other software (as far as I have used it, e. g. DVX) works properly without crashes. And, even more curious, it does not always happen, some Studio packages can be worked on fine, others work for some time and some others crash immediately after opening. I am thinking about upgrading Studio, but I am not sure this will change anything (I already have the new licence(s) and was weary to upgrade, as I don't like to touch running systems. But perhaps now it is a good time for trying, it really can't get worse.

Therefore, beware, it affects virtualization software in general, not only VMWare!
