1964 - 1968 : Elementary school in Nürnberg, Germany
1968 - 1977: High-school in Nürnberg, Germany
Abitur in 5 subjects (German, biology, mathematics, physics, English)
1979 - 1981 : Studies in mathematics & physics at the University of Mainz, Germany.
1981 - 1986 : Studies in philosophy, German literature & Hinduism/Buddhism at Ruprecht-Karls University in Heidelberg, Germany.
MA in philosophy

Employment
1986 - 1988: For 2 years I worked in a second-hand bookshop in Heidelberg, Germany. In July 1987 I came to Japan.
Aug. 1989 - to date: Work as a part-time German & English teacher at BERLITZ JAPAN in Kyoto (about 12 hours/week).
July 1989 - to date: Work as an English-German translator and German proofreader, first to help out a friend, then as a part-time freelance translator & proofreader. Most of my work to date has been translations of manuals (instruction and service manuals) for audio/video equipment and office automation equipment (fax machines, printers, fax-printers, copy machines etc.). Besides that I have translated some manuals for construction machinery, internet homepages, letters, company presentation, some patents, short stories, etc. But most of my work (about 75%) has been of a technical nature.
