Hello everyone,

I just noticed that memoQ completely ignored the segment/paragraph length restrictions in an imported Trados package. That is a nasty and unexpected trap, am I just missing a configuration or is this expected behavior?

Best,
Nico

memoQ and Trados are two completely different products. Obviously they are expected to be incompatible in some way. They can handle each other's xliff files and tmx, but hardly you can expect them to be interchangeable. Unlike Trados that can't handle memoQ handoff packages, the memoQ's ability to handle Trados packages is no small feat of itself.

Unlike Trados Studio again, memoQ can handle old Trados .BAK and uncleaned .DOC files out of the box. Studio needs an additional Compatibility and Migration Power Pack to handle its own obsolete formats Not that it is relevant these days, but the mere fact is that memoQ is more Trados-friendly than the other way round.

False Security Aug 26, 2021

Hi Stepan,

I understand and appreciate the effort that memoQ made to be more universal and compatible, but I feel that I was lured into some false sense of security. Hi Stepan,

I understand and appreciate the effort that memoQ made to be more universal and compatible, but I feel that I was lured into some false sense of security. After having translated and delivered a bunch of Trados packages with memoQ without any problem, I suddenly got a justified complaint from a client because I just disregarded the length restrictions in the package.

For me, this breaks my workflow because I will have to open all future packages in Trados to check if there are length restrictions, since memoQ wont show them...

Best,
Nico
