Discussion

Françoise Vogel Feb 4, 2020:
en effet, je l'aurais compris ainsi: théories, écoles/courants de pensée, etc., dans le sens d'approche partagée ou de faisceau d'idées communes.
ph-b (X) Feb 3, 2020:
capilotraction, puisqu'on en est aux devinettes... the philosophies relevant to the modification = the thinking behind the modification? La philosophie (le raisonnement, etc.) qui, avec les études, sous-tendent la modif/à l'origine de la modif ? Bref, demander au client ?
B D Finch Feb 3, 2020:
@Eliza 1) How do you connect this with teaching?
2) Even if one can justify the use of the term "philosophies", it should still be adjectivally qualified to indicate what sort of philosophy is being referred to (e.g. "performance assessment philosophies").
Eliza Hall Feb 3, 2020:
@BD Finch It's not nonsense if they mean "teaching philosophies."

B D Finch Feb 3, 2020:
It's nonsense They might mean "thoughts" on the subject or policies (which, at least starts with a "p"), but "philosophies" is nonsense in this context.

philosophies d'enseignement

In context (certifications, i.e. training programs in the listed disciplines -- welding etc.), this is most likely what they mean by "philosophies." In other words, what teaching philosophies or pedagogical studies support the suggested modification.
Peer comment(s):

neutral B D Finch : While that is a possible explanation, I can see nothing posted by the Asker that supports the idea that this is about teaching.// These certificates would be required from a contractor to prove standards were met. Calibration Certs would be from a lab.

It talks about certifications and "welder's qualifications," so it could be about teaching those classes (welding, etc.).
