German term

Thermosteckdose

German to English Tech/Engineering Engineering (general) Heat technology
Context:
Die Thermosteckdosen sind im rechten und linken Teil des Nutzraumes angebracht.

I suspect these may be thermocouple sockets but can't find anything to confirm this suspicion.

Discussion

David Williams (asker) Jan 28, 2009:
It also says they ermöglichen den Anschluss von flexiblen Temperaturfühlern
Erika Berrai-Flynn Jan 27, 2009:
Kann mir nur vorstellen, dass ein in die Steckdose eingebauter Thermoschutz vor unzulässiger Überhitzung schützt (Thermoschutz). Gibts mehr Infos zur Steckdose?

temperature sensor socket/receptacle

Given the additional context, this seems logical. I wouldn't be any more specific about the *type* of temperature sensor than the source text (which based on the supplied context is not at all specific).

'Thermosteckdose' is apparently pure jargon, and the only instances of the term I found on the Web seem to refer to something like casper suggested: a thermally controlled receptacle, apparently in the form of a module (similar to a timer) that plugs into a regular receptacle and can be used to control a heater.

agree Klaus Herrmann : In light of D's additional comment, this seems to be what the author was trying to say.

thermal receptacle

Note from asker:
The very fact anyone had to ask for help with AC receptacle shows just how non-standard it is (normally socket).

(auxiliary/heating) power outlet

Strange word, indeed. The "Nutzraum" however makes me think of testing systems, which often have an power outlet for heaters and other accessories. Assuming normal usage of German words, I'd rule out any sensor connection as Steckdose is usually reserved for an power outlet.

OOOOPS. I just noticed your comment about "Anschluss von flexiblen Temperaturfühlern". Now, that's really bad. Please ignore my suggestion.

Ah, ok. In that case, chances of this being an outlet are melting away...
Note from asker:
The "Nutzraum" is the interior of the drying/curing oven.
