Becca Resnik Jun 1, 2020:
It may look odd that I've suggested something with the name "baler," but I know them to be called this from when I ran them in the carpet industry when we baled cardboard cones emptied of their fiber (yarn). I have a couple links with images and terminology in my proposed translation.
Chris Pr Jun 1, 2020:
...except that a baler will likely be a "Ballenpresse".
Which is precisely why sound references are always preferred to pure speculation.

Klaus Beyer Jun 1, 2020:
Roll-off compactor for ..... ......cardboard materials of all kinds

would make sense. A machine that crushes cardboard waste into bales, I guess. Packer rather connotes a wrapping up process, something being placed in a confined space.
Mary Harris Jun 1, 2020:
Links do not mean substantiation Press-container as an answer does not consider the key part of *Abrollpresse*, *roll-off*. Of the three substantiating website links provided, Eco Communal and Bergermann both consider *Abroll* and respectively translate *Abroll-Presscontainer* as *roll-off press container* and *Abrollkipper* as *roll-off skip loaders*. The Ganser-gruppe link is in German only and makes reference to a Presscontainer and an Abrollcontainer, but not an Abrollpresse. There is no English version, so the link simply provides similar words in German and offers no substantiation.

disagree Mary Harris : Press-container as an answer does not consider the key part of *Abrollpresse*, *roll-off*. Please see spirited discussion above for further detail.

roll-off (cardboard) baler/compactor

"roll-off" is important here is it is a system to roll the container into place rather than being lifted into position

roll-off packer

I´ve suggested packer rather than press since the DE title of DIN 30730 uses Mobilebehälterpresse and the EN title uses Mobile Waste Packer. The primary difference between an Abrollpresse and a Mobilebehälterpresse is the method in which they are transported to and from the site. Mobile containers are transported using hook or chain carriers while roll-off containers are rolled off of a transport vehicle.

The second link also uses roll-off packer.

A quick copy/paste of the first link will bring up the reference mentioned. Not sure what I did wrong when adding this first reference.

The 2nd link makes 5 references to roll-off packers. One of which is the Example sentence above.
Example sentence:

PACKER, Roll-off - A packer similar to a stationary packer, but mounted on skids and equipped with heavy rollers so that it may be rolled onto or off a truck equipped with a tiltframe hoist.

Peer comment(s):

disagree Chris Pr : Meaningless (or dead) references that don't support the claim...//And 'unprofessional' behaviour doesn't enhance your case either...// Still no bilingual connection to the German term provided = 'guesswork'...

A quick copy/paste of the 1st link will bring up the reference. The 2nd is definitely not meaningless.
