Unclear error message

Does anyone know how to resolve this error message:

"This method/property must be called on the UI thread. Fix the problem by testing the InvokeRequired property on the control and call invoke () or Beginninvoke() on the control instead of calling directly when Invokerequired is true"

All SDL error messages are unhelpful Apr 2, 2019

Studio (and its predecessors) is an enormously complex program which is unforgiving when the user makes an unexpected error. I have yet to understand an error message this software generates, especially bothersome since it generates more error messages than any other software I've ever used (computer user since 1984). Doubtless they are meaningful to a programmer familiar with the software, but are incomprehensible to the average user.
