The MAH should provide annual updates of the recruitment of patients in the PROMPT study at the time of the annual reassessment. After finalisation of the study, the MAH should submit the final study report to the CHMP and consider the need for a submission of a variation to the SmPC for any significant results arising from this study.

Extended Epoetin Alfa (Procrit) Dosing: the PROMPT Study
Procrit (Epoetin Alfa) and Aranesp (Darbepoetin Alfa) are both indicated for the treatment of anemia in patients with chronic kidney disease. One possible advantage of Aranesp is that it has a longer half-life than Procrit, and therefore doses may be given less frequently. The PROMPT study suggests that Procrit, despite its shorter half life, may successfully be used with an extended dosing schedule (every 2 - 4 weeks).
