sélecteur de distances à trois positions

My reading is that the camera has a switch enabling the user to adapt its characteristics (maybe an echo compensator, or something similar) to suit any one of three lengths of cable. This would be confirmed if the switch positions are marked:10m, 50m 100m or something similar.

The most likely thing - assuming this is a 'real' camera and not a webcam or something as basic as that - is that the selector sets the ScH phase (subcarrier to line sync phase) of the composite output signal. In this case, the markings might be something like +10°, 0, -10° instead of cable lengths.

agree Tony M : Good analysis, I would say exactly the same; and 'sélecteur', please! It's used to select one of 3 distances... (usually things like HF response + gain)

agree Proelec : A mon avis, sans "s" à "distance". On choisit une des positions possibles.
