una decisión si más no controvertida

Spanish to English Science Medical: Cardiology una decisión si más no controvertida
Here is the full sentence, followed by my first cut translation:

Curiosamente no hay información respecto la muerte súbita en atletas causada por Síndrome de Brugada, pero las prácticas clínicas han aconsejado últimamente que los afectados por la enfermedad no practiquen deporte debido al aumento de la temperatura corporal, una decisión si más no controvertida.

Curiously there is no information with respect to sudden death in athletes caused by Brugada Syndrome, but clinical practices have begun advising those affected by the disease not to participate in sports due to the increase in body temperature, a decision ???

Los hermanos Brugada son catalanes La observación de psicutrinius me parece acertada ya que los hermanos Brugada, que son quienes describieron el síndrome en 1992, son catalanes.

This is Babylon's translation, Catalan to Spanish:

CAT Si més no
ES cuando menos.
Ronnie McKee (asker) May 3, 2009:
Confused I am confused. I must be misinterpreting something badly because I thought it meant the opposite, that no one would contest the recommendation. I's sure that the two of you are absolutely right, I just want to understand why I'm going wrong. no controvertida???
psicutrinius May 3, 2009:
Sounds literal translation from Catalan into Spanish. Catalan is "si més no". You would say "cuando menos" or "por lo menos" (I prefer the first, but I cannot bring proof to support it) in Spanish and I would say (here) "controversial et the very least" in English.

a fairly controversial decision

sí, creo que "controversial, to say the least" sería muy apropiado; but i guess this is, rather, what one would say in english

wish you luck

a decision that was controversial, if nothing else

Hi Ronnie,

This is my understanding of it. It was a controversial decision because "Curiously there is no information with respect to sudden death in athletes caused by Brugada Syndrome"; so the fact that clinical practices have started advising athletes to essentially quit their profession based on such information is nothing short of, well, controversial!

Hope this helps!
