Spanish term

restriccion afectiva

Spanish to English Medical Psychology
From a psychological evaluation from Bolivia:

"La paciente tambien atraviesa por un estado de restriccion afectiva. Se muestra mas insensible, existe incremento de sentimientos de rabia y temor. Muestra conducta mas retraida ante personas extranas o cercanas a ella."

Does anyone know what the correct term is for "restriccion afectiva" in English? Emotional disconnection? Emotional withdrawal? Any suggestions welcome.
Thanks so much!

Patricia Weist (asker) Jul 14, 2009:
I wanted to let you know that I consulted with a pyschiatrist and a psychologist and both said they would translate the term "affective disorder", so I went with that.
Thanks again!

affective restraint

See, for example:

The main issue with the client is affective restraint. Emotions that center around hostility are the core of the client’s emotions. However, the client may not recognize or admit this fact. They will use intellectualization and isolation of affect to disprove this fact. When the therapist begins to unmask the client’s hostility base, the client may react will hostile affects.
