Joseph Tein Sep 25, 2015:
for next time: For the next colleague with a valid need to know this: in the context of a urinalysis (and it's still anybody's guess what this asker had in mind because he/she didn't bother to reply): the term I find for "filamento mucoso" is MUCUS THREADS.

PROCEDURE

Centrifuge 5.0 mL of a mixed, freshly voided or catheterized urine in a conical centrifuge tube for 5 minutes at high speed.

Examine several fields at 100X magnification for casts. Classify and count the number of casts and report as a least-to-most range (eg. 5-10) for each type seen within LPF (Low Power Fields). Switch to 400X magnification and examine for other elements, i.e., WBCs, RBCs, Epithelial cells, yeast, bacteria, Trichomonas vaginalis, Sperm cells, mucous filaments and crystals.

neutral Joseph Tein : Hi Liz ... passing through here again looking for "filamento mucoso" in a urine sediment test. She never did tell us what her question was about. Ahhh ... and I just noticed she never even graded the question. No wonder I filtered her some years ago.
