Discussion

Lydia De Jorge (asker) Feb 12, 2010:
Thanks Marga and Lisa! That's why I had thought of "tailored". The context does not offer any more insight. I suppose "adapted" would suffice but to my ears it sounds a bit weird.
Lisa McCarthy Feb 12, 2010:
Yes, 'adapted' alone will suffice -

equipped/adapted for disabled/handicapped

This is what it normally means in Spain. In the Spanish version, it's often seen like this with no mention of "discapacitados", etc.

integrated

Ok, I see... then, you could use "retrofitted/modified/adapted"
Your choice,

Cheers!
Note from asker:
I originally thought the same thing - that the bathroom was within or integrated. My problem is that this is talking about a Nursing Home and it can well be that it refers to a bathroom that is adapted to the needs of the resident.

Spanish term (edited): adaptados

mobility-friendly

I've used this in the past for a similar text.

Suerte :)

Just a note to explain why I chose "mobility-friendly" over "adapted". To me, "adapted" (or in particular "specially adapted") can have negative connotations for the people these facilities are "adapted" for... As in, the idea that it needs to be adapted because the person has "special needs", which people often aren't comfortable with.
Since my text was a marketing text too, I chose "mobility-friendly" to avoid this potential negativity.
