French term
Dessinateur E2
French to English
Other
Engineering (general)
From a CV
I am working on a CV where the indvidual lists Dessinateur E2, and earlier Dessinateur E1 and also Dessinateur E2 BA GC.
I don't need to translate the E2 or the E1 or the BA or the GC. I believe this means draftsman. I am adding all the extras with the hope that someone familiar with the field will know if this is a draftsman or something else.

Draftsman/Designer
Considering the field (Engineering) you've put, I'm inclined to think it's a draftsman, but you should be able to verify this with the content of the CV.

This fellow has worked contruction, auto manufacturing and has a limited formal education so that's why I am having trouble. He has worked on nuclear plants, nuclear reprocessing, hotel projects and more. |

: Stephanie already stated that she did not have to translate "E2", etc., so this really is a repetition of my own answer.

Reference:
Dessinateur d'études 1 et 2
I would say these are Junior draftspersons (or draughtspersons).
Explanation:
Chaque branche, voire chaque société à ses propres dénominations. Pour simplifier disons que l'on débute comme dessinateur d'études avec des échelons 1 et 2. Puis l'on passe projeteur 1, 2 voire 3. Ensuite l'on devient Chef de groupe, ce qui sous entend l'ncadrement d'un groupe de niveaux hierarchique inférieur, ou Projeteur principal qui reconnait une technicité solide.

The 'projeteur' level would be a 'designer' or a 'design draftsperson', according to Termium Plus.

Thank you very much. It is very helpful to have a sense of the hierarchy of these professional designations. |
