The end of the sentence relates to the reference to obesity at the beginning of the sentence

certain food increases blood pressure, apart from (or as well as) its effect on body weight.

It's written in quite an informal manner, hence the reference to "tensión" and "peso"

Thanks InfoMarex :)
neutral Karen Vincent-Jones (X) : Which are you suggesting? Action or effect? It's difficult to know how to respond if you post two answers together. I agree with Pedro that 'effect' is good, but not 'action'.

Yes, effect is probably best.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thanks, Emma. I chose to phrase it differently, but it means the same thing. I prefer to give points to the first person responding, when their answer is reasonable. Have a great day."

neutral Emma Goldsmith : Since your answer is essentially the same as mine, I feel you could "agree" with mine and maybe add the comment "I think effect would be best". This is a common approach when offering an "agree" to an answer and it shows friendly intention :)
