Art exhibit - photography
This is the end of a statement that the photographer wrote to introduce her work in a US museum exhibit. I don't quite get what she means here. Is "segunda lectura" a photographic term or is she just talking about a second interpretation of what she photographs?
Entre tantas búsquedas, X es mi trabajo fotográfico de buscar con algo de técnica y encontrar en las tomas de exposiciones largas una segunda lectura, de un suceso cotidiano.

to find another meaning in long exposure shots
It obviously refers to an alternative interpretation of the photographs. I must say the sentence is not very well structured in Spanish.

To find a secondary meaning in the shot/snap's extensive detail.
Might be an option.

There is an implicit idea that a long photographic exposure leads to the capturing of more detail in the snap than you would get from shorter exposures. This then leads to additional, secondary meaning to be gleaned from the images, is my understanding.

Note from asker:
I don't know much about photography, could you please explain to me how exposiciones largas means "extensive detail"? Thanks. |
34 mins
using long exposure to find a new interpretation (of a daily occurrence)
Iwould turn the sentence around, and I think you are right that this second 'reading' refers to a new interpretation or new way of looking at something. If you use 'second' I would not use the word 'secondary' as that suggests it is of minor importance.

to pursue a different interpretation of a daily event through some technique and longer exposures
In my opinion the complete phrase should be:
"Among so many others, X is my aim in photography to pursue a different interpretation of a daily event through some technique and longer exposures"
"Among so many others, X is my aim in photography to pursue a different interpretation of a daily event through some technique and longer exposures"
4 hrs
to uncover in the long exposure shots a new interpretation of everyday incidents/events/occurences
my reading...
9 hrs
a second photo within a photo
I believe she is referring to people that are captured in the background of a photo while they are completely oblivious to the fact that they are part of that background and are therefore going about their normal business.

You've raised a very valid point. I'm going to have to check with my client. Thanks Lydia. |
