Claro, pero... ...la expresión "fijación antigénica" no es usual en este campo (en internet sólo figura en 21 páginas). El término habitual es "unión": unión al antígeno (41.400 páginas), unión del antígeno (24.500 páginas), etc. Incluso las expresiones "fijación del antígeno" y "fijación al antígeno" parecen ser más frecuentes (727 y 79 páginas, respectivamente). A mí, como bioquímica, "fijación antigénica" me suena raro.

¿Qué preposición utilizar? El problema es que al pasar del inglés al castellano suele ser necesario agregar preposiciones, transformar aposiciones en formas adjetivadas o transformar singulares en plurales. Para ello, es preciso saber exactamente de qué se habla. Por ejemplo, en este caso, hay diversas posibilidades: "unión DEL antígeno" (con las variantes "unión de antígenos" y "unión de los antígenos"), "unión AL antígeno" (con sus variantes). Para decidir cuál es la pertinente, hay que saber de qué se está hablando.

no context I have had a few, thankfully not many, horrible translations of lists and headings without context, and where there is a problem term, I try to go the most literal translation provided that it is indeed used in the corresponding language.

¿De qué habla el apartado que lleva este título? Eso forma parte del contexto.

¿Y el contexto? Esta aposición puede tener distintos significados según el contexto CONCRETO.

Siempre hay que copiar todo el párrafo en el que aparece el término que ocasiona la consulta, e incluso el párrafo anterior, cuando permite comprender mejor el contexto.

unión con el antígeno/unión del antígeno

Hello everyone!

The term "binding" is definitely "unión", no doubt about that.

Now, if the text is dealing with an antibody, probably as a medication, I suggest the first option: unión con el antígeno.

If it is talking about the antigen itself, I suggest the second: unión del antígeno. However, this is unlikely and probably we are dealing with the first.

To be sure, I suggest you take a look at translations of immunology textbooks. I found one in Google books.
