The following is from a report of clinical case studies where 3D imaging is recommended. I am not familiar with the precise terminology. Any help appreciated.
"Cas clinique 11 : Anatomie canalaire
Le patient est référé par son praticien pour de vives douleurs persistantes de 17 et à ses alentours. Le traitement endodontique de 17 ainsi que l’avulsion de 16 ont été réalisés il y a plusieurs semaines.
L’examen 2D montre un traitement endodontique avec surobturations.
Le cône beam révèle la présence d’un second canal mésio-vestibulaire dans 17 (présent dans 50% des secondes molaires maxillaires) non appréhendé lors du traitement initial. La forme oblongue de la racine MV avec un canal obturé non centré témoignent d’un canal supplémentaire. Le cône beam objective également la difficulté de guérison du site extractionnel."
