Source of text? 11:50 Nov 28, 2012
This reads slightly oddly to me; have you any idea of the provenance of the text, might it have been written by a non-native? Is it US or GB? I can think of 2 interpretations, both of which assume that the EN is less than perfect:
1) The emotions kick-in, i.e. start to have an effect; for it to mean this, the text is grammatically wrong, it ought to be soemthing like "...in order to reduce the extent to which these emotions kick in..."
2) It is the emotional investor who kicks in; doesn't make a lot of sense ot me, really, unless it could be understood in the sense of 'to react' — but to have this meaning, the EN would really take quite a bit of re-writing! |
