This little abbreviation appears in a list of medication orders for a hospitalized.
The list gives the name of the medication, dose, frequency of administration ... and route of administration (via). (Some of the other routes are SC, IV, OR)
This PI appears after an order for saline solution: 1-SUERO GLUCOSALINO 500 ML -- PI -- c/8 horas.
I understand that the saline would be administered intravenously, but still would like to know what words these letters stand for, specifically, in this context, and how to express it in English.
(Can't find it in my own search, and the acronym doesn't appear in the Tremedica glossary).

How about "por infusión" or "intravenous infusion" in English?

: As your references point out, this is used for drug administration, not fluid therapy. It doesn't make sense to administer dextrose/saline intermittently.
