If the WWTP has both, then the "pozo de gruesos" comes first. As its name suggests, it is for screening large solids or coarse materials. The "pozo de desbaste" will then have finer screens for removing grit, sand, etc.

As far as I am aware, the "pozo de desbaste" is the "grit chamber".
