Italian term

turismo naturalistico

Italian to English Other Tourism & Travel
Can someone help me out with the most English sounding translation of "turismo naturalistico", proposed as an alternative to "mass tourism" in an analysis of the tourism potential of high mountain areas. Here's the full context: "E' necessario individuare nuovi e congruenti principi, cercando di valorizzare le innovative potenzialità di turismo naturalistico tali da garantire una corretta sostenibilità ambientale ed economica." Thanks, Sarah.
Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

Non-PRO (2): Lara Barnett, Yvonne Gallagher

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Difference between nature and ecotourism They are two different things, the link I have provided in my answer makes a clear distinction between the two and this link explains what that difference is:

Could they just be using an alternative to eco-tourism?

I think naturalistic tourism is an out-of-fashion term, indeed eco-tourism implies many more options
Peer comment(s):

agree mlreid : I instinctively quite like this word, especially so then after reading the Wikipedia piece. Nature tourism is fine as well but ecotourism has more of an 'agenda' in it, in my view.

neutral Giulia Gigliotti : Nature and ecotourism are 2 different things, see my discussion entry for details. Mlreid is correct in saying that ecotourism has an agenda which isn't the case with 'nature' tourism (again, see link in my discussion.
1 hr
agree philgoddard : Ecotourism, not EcoTourism.
3 hrs
agree Yvonne Gallagher : this seems to be more likely in context than "nature"
4 hrs
agree Oliver Lawrence : The context suggests that the 'agenda' in ecotourism is precisely what is meant here
