In the course of continuous product improvements XX blood pumps with tilting disks have been replaced by XXX bileaflet valves. The new XX blood pump models with bileaflet valves received CE mark in April 2014. Clinical benefits of the XX blood pumps with bileaflet valves are that there is no check for leak tightness necessary at implantation, as well as a significant noise reduction of the pumps. The valves have an optimal hemocompatibility, comparable to XX blood pumps with tilting disks.
