I am translating a report on a patient who has undergone a series of CT scans. One of them was a thoracic spine MRI with the following description.
T.A.C TORAX SIN CONTRASTE: bullas subpleurales en ambos vértices pulmonares. Fenómenos atelectasicos en lóbulo superior derecho. Espondifoartrosis dorsal. Secuela fractura 2° arco costal derecho. Fractura 4o arco costal derecho.
Sequel fracture or sequelae fracture as phrase searches in google yield less than 300 results.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how this is best translated!

I think this is the same meaning as "secuela de fractura". Lots and lots of online instances of this.

Also, when the ribs are broken, it is not just the bone that is injured. The periosteum on the bone is ripped apart, the intercostal muscles are torn off their attachments, and the neurovascular bundle is stretched (each rib has a nerve and artery run along its inferior surface in a groove). All of this will heal, but it heals with scar tissue, which does not stretch or contract like regular tissue. Unfortunately, there is not much you can do about the scar.

I did phrase searches (phrase in quotes) for the two I mentioned. Sequelae of fracture I didn't try. Without quotes 426,000. As a phrase, 94.800.
Better than the two I used though!
