Discussion

Leigh Mosley (asker) Nov 17, 2016:
I think I understand the gist of it now. Many thanks to all of you!!
Frank Szmulowicz, Ph. D. Nov 17, 2016:
If alive, one can read this as the last event that was held in the man's honor.
And do not worry - "Stupid is as stupid does."

Leigh Mosley (asker) Nov 17, 2016:
It's the title of a chapter to a book. The hero is (so far) still alive. He may keel over by the end of the chapter, but they haven't sent me that much of the text yet....
Frank Szmulowicz, Ph. D. Nov 17, 2016:
Is the person dead or alive?
Leigh Mosley (asker) Nov 17, 2016:
This all makes me feel much less stupid thank you :)
Tatiana Grehan Nov 17, 2016:
I agree with Artem: the Russian sentence is not well worded. But you are right about its meaning: something he'll be remembered for.
Artem Vakhitov Nov 17, 2016:
Maybe the author meant smth. like "the last event involving him that someone (author?) remembers".
Artem Vakhitov Nov 17, 2016:
The implied meaning is probably what you said But the phrase really makes no sense as is. It's illiterate.
