English term

Spray zone

English to French Science Environment & Ecology
I have a document about the intertidal zone to translate.

Here is the sentence I have a problem with:

"The intertidal zone has four distinct physical subdivisions: the spray zone, and the high, middle, and lower intertidal zones."

I found a translation for "high, middle and lower intertidal zones" (étage supra-, médio- et infralittoral) but I don't know how to translate "the spray zone" as it seems to be the same as the high intertidal zone. Any ideas?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Appelé aussi "étage adlittoral".

zone / étage supralittoral(e)

"Supra" because this zone sits above more directly exposed tidal zones.

I would Translate the other zones as :
Zone de haute marées
Zone de basse marée
Zone infralittorale

neutral Marielle Akamatsu : Dans les subdivisions mentionnées pour la zone intertidale, la "spray zone" est distincte de la "high intertidal zone" (= zone supralittorale)
