A text about an exhibition of drawings:

La muestra intenta estimular al espectador a detenerse en el valor individual de las obras más que en su relación con los cánones del dibujo o en su historia reciente en el contexto venezolano y latinoamericano. (…) Son más de cuatrocientos los trabajos en trazo y papel de la Colección.


While the usual translation would be "stroke" or "line," in this text the idea is clearly in opposition to painting, and both stroke and line are used in reference to painting. I think the author means ink and pencil, but I am wondering if there is a more precise term.
