Stealing shares

English to French Marketing Business/Commerce (general) Company profile
This part of powerpoint about "selling" (cycles, techniques etc).
This term appears on a slide entitled "Two ways, one objective: to sell" and 2 columns below
one : increase, retain, improve,
the other : "bring home", *"stealing shares"*, "conquer".

Is is as simple as "voler des actions/parts de marché"?

Thank you !

@Germaine merci!

English term (edited): stealing market shares
Selected

taken literally "stealing market shares" is pure nonsense - no one "owns" the market or parts of it (not in a "free market economy", at least) so there is NOTHING to be "stolen"; in fact, it's about taking over from the completion parts of the market.

While there is nothing to "steal", every potential client is "open for grab", so this "motivational message" to the sales force is in fact "go grab all the clients you can"

"s'emparer" sounds right to me - has the connotations of aggressive takeover of competitor's market shares, not the literal nonsense of "stealing" something that no one owns.

Merci !:)
Peer comment(s):
