Medical: Cardiology
This is from progress notes from a hospital in Spain: the patient is a 66 yr old female so she has NOT recently given birth! During her stay in the ICU, "requerio infusion de nitroglicerina ya detestada." Is there any chance that this means that the patient needed IV nitroglycerin but is now weaned off of it, and doesn't need it any longer? Or is there another meaning? Thanks very much to colleagues with some field experience!

weaned off the nitro drip
Weaning is a process of tapering the dosage of certain medications rather than discontinuing them abruptly in order to avoid rebound side effects. An infusion of nitroglycerine is referred to as a "nitro drip".
