O assunto, no caso, são as falências e o futuro da indústria de transporte aéreo, que o interlocutor obviamente não conhece, mas tenta demonstrar que sabe alguma coisa relacionada. Eu traduziria como "conhecer ou dominar o assunto". É o que parece fazer mais sentido dentro deste contexto.
