Spanish to English Law/Patents Law (general) Labor law (Puerto Rico)

I wonder if any of you know about this concept, which relates to work shifts. Oddly, there appears to be an English translation of the term in the text below, which even describes what is meant, but I cannot understand why they have used either the term "granted" or "engrane" here. In addition, "granted" is not a verb, whereas "engrane" is, so in any case "granted" wouldn't work as a translation in other parts of the document.

"Conforme la prueba, el concepto de ‘’granted’’ o ‘’g’’ (‘’engrane’’) se define como las horas pagadas no trabajadas para completar la paga básica de la semana de pago a trabajadores regulares. Se utiliza, además, para ‘’engranar’’ (intercalar, enlazar) un cambio de turno. Por lo tanto, corresponde a tiempo no trabajado pero pagado para intercalar o enlazar el nuevo turno de trabajo en otro turno de trabajo en la semana de trabajo del empleado."
