Italian term

prendere slancio

Italian to English Social Sciences Philosophy Philosophy of Language, Frege
Text, an essay for publication in a philosophical journal:

Nei prossimi due capitoli mi proporrò di individuare le idee chiave ***da cui ha preso slancio*** e attraverso le quali si è individuato il pensiero di Wittgenstein.

Ideas:

"from which Wittgenstein took inspiration" is too much of a jump...

"prendere slancio" seems to be gained momentum from...

That gave Wittgenstein momentum... "That Wittgenstein drew on for momentum and through which he developed his own thought."

Thoughts?

Thanks,

Peter

...key ideas that gave impetus to...

...and helped to shape Wittgenstein's thought

Talkin' 'bout the "linguistic turn", eh? :)))

moved from

There are many ways to translate this: for philosophical thought I like the idea of 'seminal ideas' together with build/develop/move from or your own suggestion drew on

...the seminal ideas Wittgenstein moved from/built on

Perhaps the idea of seminal helps to render the idea of creative impetus implied in 'prendere slancio'
