"giessen"/"gießen" could relate to
* pouring (of various materials in various situations)
* casting (especially of metals into various moulds)

Even in the latter sense of casting/moulding, the material involved may be a non-metal.

So what niggles is that in the general domain of making ingots, the word "giessen"/"gießen" might naturally be interpreted in the latter sense (like "casting"), whereas actually the former sense (like "pouring") may be a more accurate translation of "teeming".

On the other hand, I haven't thought of a superior translation.
And with the right context, it may still be clear enough. Consider this example from Linguee:
"The worker poured the hot melt into the cast." = "Der Arbeiter goss die heiße Schmelze in die Gussform."

Casting is quite a broad term, and can relate to the overall process, and can also involve nonmetals, such as ceramics.

teeming = pouring (of molten metal for casting) ≠ casting (of molten metal)

It seems that fundamentally the word "teeming" may be defined as the action of pouring molten metal (for casting ingots). Which might imply casting, and may even loosely be used to mean casting. But nevertheless I suspect it's different from casting (of metal into ingots).

This from the Evolution link (already provided above) is ambiguous:
"Molten steel is poured twice during processing. The first pouring takes place after melting, when the steel is transferred from the melting to the ladle furnace. This procedure is called tapping. After refining, the steel is poured into moulds. This procedure is called teeming, to distinguish it from the other type of pouring operation."

But this from a patent clearly refers only to the pouring, not the casting:
"In a continuous steel casting operation, liquid steel is teemed from a ladle into a tundish where a reservoir of metal is maintained and from which the metal flows at a controlled rate into one or more casting molds."
