hysterectomy and bilateral oophorectomy (or ovariectomy)
Hi Cecilia
In English, this procedure is spelled-out. "Oophorectomy" is more used than "ovariectomy".
Good luck
Elena
PURPOSE: To evaluate the role of high-dose whole abdominal and pelvic irradiation (WART) in the treatment of epithelial ovarian carcinoma. METHODS AND MATERIALS: A retrospective review was performed on 71 patients with Stage I-III ovarian carcinoma who were treated with WART using an open field technique after total abdominal **hysterectomy and bilateral oophorectomy** with or without omentectomy.

Virtually all pHT regimens at least maintain BMD at the lumbar spine and the hip compared with baseline; there is no apparent difference between the various estrogenic compounds. Tibolone, a synthetic progestin, appears to be as effective as any estrogen. Most trials were conducted in early post-menopausal women, fewer in women with **hysterectomy and/or bilateral oophorectomy**.

The evidence for accurate staging is derived from case series data (level II-2B). Preserving the uterus in young women wishing to maintain fertility is supported by prospective cohort studies (level II-2A) and by case series data (level IV) for women with germ cell tumours. Prospective cohort studies (level II-2A) support surgical management with **hysterectomy, bilateral oophorectomy** and debulking.

could this be this? ANNEXECTOMY
Definition: In gynecology, excision of the fallopian tube and ovary if unilateral and excision of both tubes and ovaries (adnexa uteri) if bilateral.
I can't find another word for this: Hysterectomy and ovariectomy. Almost everywhere appears just like this hysteroctomy-ovariectomy or just adding them with a plus sign.
Good luck... gotta go now.
Cheers

ovarihysterectomy
Protection from womb cancer
The pill reduces the risk by almost 50%. Consequently, hysterectomy (removal of the womb), ovariectomy (removal of the ovaries), and ovarihysterectomy (removal of both) is much less common than it used to be because so many women now take the pill.

hysterectomy and salpingo-oophorectomy
Can´t leave out the fallopian tubes! Oopherectomy is only the ovary. Salpingectomy is removal of the fallopian tube. Unless it is indicated "both, right or left", you better just put "salpingo-oopherectomy".
As a nurse, at one time I cared for lots of these post operative patients.

: Hola Karla: not all oophorectomies entail salpingectomy. Tu respuesta es acertada! pero en inglés al decir "hysterectomy + oophorectomy", la parte de "salpingectomy" se suele dar x sobreetendida, quizá para no escribir tanto :-)

Elena, especially in legal medicine, what I´ve always learned is only what is said is done, nothing is implied. And in my experience, salpingo-oopherectomies were always referred to as such when the fallopian tubes were removed along with the ovaries : )
