German term

Sitzungsgestaltung

German to English Social Sciences Education / Pedagogy Teacher training
From the modules manual for a teacher education programme at a German university. This term and "Sitzungsprotokolle" are used repeatedly in the section on the forms of examination/performance review. Not sure what the proper equivalent would be (for UK English).

Discussion

Celia Bodnar (asker) Aug 21, 2021:
I was thinking along the lines of "session design", as in "lesson plan" - that this was a graded sample "lesson" or "lecture" (although this is for teaching training for secondary schools, so "lesson" fits better). Hence the "Sitzungsprotokolle" would be a sample recording/minutes of such a sample lesson planned or designed by the student teacher. Does this sound plausible?
Celia Bodnar (asker) Aug 20, 2021:
It is for a teaching education module, so definitely not about meeting procedures. I also came up with "session design" (referring to the design of one classroom "session" or teaching lesson, but I don't feel this is the correct term. The term appears, for example, in the type of testing/performance review section for the course descriptions as "Studienleistung: Sitzungsgestaltung (45 Min.), Seminarreflexion oder 2-5 Sitzungsprotokolle/Exzerpt" or "Modulprüfung: Reflektierte Sitzungsgestaltung (90 Min.), Portfolio oder Hausarbeit (ca. 12-20 S.)"

Steffen Walter Aug 20, 2021:
This is ... ... kind of ambiguous. As it stands now, we can't tell if this is about courses/classes or other types of "Sitzungen". This is why I kindly ask you to provide some more context (at the very least, one or two complete sentences in which the term occurs). Or is this about the review session as such?

session format

Based on your additional note ("type of testing/performance review section").
'Design' must surely be the least precise and most overused noun in modern English.

meeting procedure(s)

One of Apex’s strengths is the training that it provides young men and women in the art of meeting procedure. Meeting procedure is indeed an art. On the one hand we have the need for the business of our meetings to be concise and to the point, yet the important decisions of our meetings need to be properly considered and debated.

disagree Steffen Walter : The times indicated in Celia's added discussion entry refer to the length of the exam/review sessions, whereas "Sitzungsgestaltung" is the topic/subject being reviewed/examined.
